Against the Grain Public House in Highlands Announces it Has Closed
Against the Grain announced its Brewery and Public House in the Highlands has closed. The location survived the Covid-19 pandemic and continued on for four-plus years.
The brewery announced the closure on social media.
“After five memorable years at the Highlands Public House, we have made the difficult decision to close this location,” the announcement on Facebook read. “The timing of our lease renewal, coupled with the changing landscape of the neighborhood and the evolving market, has led us to this choice. While this decision was not easy, it was made with the long-term success and stability of Against The Grain in mind.”
The original location located at Slugger Field will remain open.
The iconic location in the Highlands at one point was a Cold Stone Creamery; it would later spend many years operating as Cumberland Brews before Against the Grain took over the spot.
“Despite our best efforts, the shifts in the market and the neighborhood's economic landscape prevented this location from reaching its full potential,” Against the Grain’s post read. “With our lease maturing and operational permits up for renewal, we felt it was the right moment to focus our energy on our other locations and ensure a bright future for ATG.”
The post also expressed gratitude for its customers and friends.
“The friendships and memories built in this space will always be a part of ATG’s story. We look forward to continuing to serve you at our Downtown location, where we remain committed to delivering the same quality and experience you’ve come to expect.”
