Another One Down: The Raven Announces Imminent Closure

The Raven Irish Pub, located in St. Matthews, announced on social media that it will close. The final day of operation is set for May 31.

Originally a second location of Molly Malone’s, The Raven opened in 2020 under ownership by long-time Molly Malone’s employee and Ireland native Brendan McCarten and his wife Renee. The pub has been known for traditional Irish food and beverage, as well as live music, not to mention Brendan’s friendly demeanor and Irish brogue.

“We are saddened to announce that we have decided not to renew our lease at The Raven,” the announcement stated. “We have poured our blood, sweat and tears into our beloved pub, but have decided to turn our energy toward the family and give them the much needed time that they deserve.”

It continued, “We cannot thank our staff, musicians, friends and family enough for the love and support you have given over the years. We will celebrate the memories, friendships and this new chapter in our lives over the next nine days, and hope to see you at The Raven one last time.”

Many remember the building as the original location of Buffalo Wild Wings, informally known as BW3. It joins other 2024 closures of Louisville favorites, including The Back Door, Falls City Brewing’s taproom (now a Parlour Pizza location), Dundee Tavern (now a Derby City Pizza location) and Jerusalem Kitchen.
