Farewell, Taco Bell Quesarito
Nearly a decade into its run as a Taco Bell menu staple, the Quesarito is about to say farewell, according to the fast-food chain.
It isn’t a complicated item – essentially just a beef burrito that is wrapped in a cheese quesadilla – but it enjoyed popularity, had a nice Chipotle note and went well with Fire sauce. According to TheTakeout.com, the Quesarito will be available only through the Taco Bell app through April 19, and then it’s gone for good. (It’s fair to note that they said that about the Mexican Pizza, but fan outrage brought that one back.)
And while, The Bell has been easing out the Quesarito slowly, pulling it from dine-in message boards over the course of time, it will use the space to bring back a couple of other canceled favorites from the past: the Bacon Club Chalupa and the Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito.
Remember those? The former is basically a club sandwich -- with chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese and avocado ranch – packed into a crunchy chalupa shell. The latter is a more recent invention by the Yum! Brands mainstay, and it consists of a double dose of steak with seasoned rice, shredded cheese, nacho cheese sauce, sour cream and tortilla strips inside, which is then grilled with a cheese crust. Yeah, that’s a lot of cheese.
Of course, as we know, pretty much any Taco Bell menu item is going to based around a handful of ingredients that are just blended together in different ways and stuffed into different types of wraps, shells and bowls. And there’s nothing wrong with that – that’s part of the charm, such as it is, of Taco Bell.
Hey, I’m still basking in the discovery that the Chili Cheese Burrito is still around.
