Louisville Lands on List of 2022’s Most Festive Cities in America
And we thought the Kentucky Derby was the most festive Louisville could get. But the River City landed in a pretty high slot on a new list of 2022’s Most Festive Cities.
The study, undertaken by Lawn Starter, lists Louisville at No. 32 on the list of 200 of the most and least festive cities in the U.S.
“We looked for cities with bags of fun, like holiday festivals and European-style Christmas markets serving delicious goodies,” Lawn Starter reported, adding it also factored in snowfall.
New York City ranked first in a blowout, with a composite score of 82.99 based on scores awarded in four different categories: Frolicking Rank, Merrymaking Rank, Entertaining Rank, and Eating and Drinking Rank. Rounding out the Top 5 are Las Vegas (50.66), Los Angeles (49.96), Chicago (49.18) and Denver (39.87). Louisville’s composite rank was 23.34.
The least festive city in the report? Port St. Lucie, Fla., with a composite score of just 2.03.
Interestingly, Louisville ranked No. 3 on a breakout ranking of the cities with the most holiday decor shops.
The Frolicking category includes factors such as snowfall during the holiday season, walkability and crime index; under Merrymaking, the factors studied included the number of festivals, skating rinks, attractions and so forth; under entertainment, decorating shops and services, Christmas tree vendors and party supply stores were factors, and Eating and Drinking included bakeries, candy stores and night life.
Cincinnati, Nashville and Indianapolis landed at 37, 38 and 39, respectively, and Lexington ranked 84th.
