Mile Wide’s Hops on the Hill Event Returns Saturday, Aug. 5

Mile Wide Beer Company (MWBC) will host its sixth annual Hops on the Hill (HotH) Festival on Saturday, Aug. 5, 5 p.m.–midnight, at the Mile Wide Brewery & Taproom at 636 Barret Ave., in the Phoenix Hill Neighborhood.

The beer portion of the festival runs from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., and will feature three collaboratively brewed IPA releases, plenty of craft beer, food, and music from DJ Clay Baker. Immediately following, the Louisville Silent Disco will host a dance party on the front patio at Mile Wide from 9 p.m.-midnight.

To celebrate this year’s festival, MWBC welcomes DSSOLVR (Asheville, NC), 4 Hands Brewing (St Louis, MO) & Streetside Brewery (Cincinnati, OH). Three different collaboration beers, one with each brewery, will be released exclusively at the festival. These collaborations, all IPAs, will run the gamut from West Coast IPA to Hazy IPA. They will be on tap for duration of the festival, and two of them will be available for purchase in 16oz cans to-go.

As part of the festival, Mile Wide will also be pouring a variety of beer from all three breweries. While the festival is focused on IPAs, expect other styles to be featured as well, including a Raspberry Berliner Weisse from Streetside, and a Pineapple Berliner Weisse from 4 Hands.

Mile Wide Beer Co. will also have a few special one-off kegs tapping for the occasion, including a Peach Oat Cream IPA, and an Hi-C inspired Slushy Sour, in addition to a number of other offerings.

Last year’s HotH was the first with the new format of multiple collaborations, and Scott Shreffler, co-founder of MWBC, said in a news release they’re trying to make it even bigger and better this year: “We really went all in on the idea of bringing in breweries that don’t currently distribute to Kentucky, to give people a chance to try some of our favorite breweries through our collaborations, but also their guest taps.”
