Sorry, Lovers: You’ll Have to Do White Castle Valentine’s Day from Home in 2022

It had become a fun, tongue-in-cheek and, frankly, baffling tradition: romantic Valentine’s Day dinners … at White Castle. But Covid-19 waits for no one.

More than 30,000 people dined at the Castle in the U.S. in 2020, before life changed. But White Castle announced today that it won’t be opening its doors for the traditional reservations. Last year, there was a Car-Hop concept in which you could dine in the parking lot; this year, White Castle is rolling out what it is calling the Love Cube.

This dinner for two includes eight cheese sliders, two small soft drinks and a choice of two shareable sides, and comes in a gaudy pink box with a handle that says, “Built With Love” on it. It's available only on Feb. 14 while supplies last and can be purchased for delivery or carry-out for just $14.69 in the Louisville market. It all begs the question: What do you pair with steamed, onion-covered mini-burgers, white wine or red?

And if you really want to make the evening romantic, White Castle will introduce a brand-new dessert-on-a-stick on Valentine's Day. The new strawberry swirl cheesecake, featuring a swirl of strawberry filling and a chocolate cookie crust, will be sold separately.

But wait: There’s more.

If that's not enough, White Castle is offering all customers free delivery on Valentine's Day through its delivery partners for all orders of $15 or more. Members of Craver Nation (the restaurant’s app) can also get 20% off all mobile orders through April 17.

"Valentine's Day dinner at White Castle has been an important tradition for so many of our customers," said Jamie Richardson, vice president at White Castle, in a news release. "Year in and out, we're thrilled to be able to bring the experience to life in new and memorable ways."

You know, because nothing says “romance” like gastrointestinal distress.
