Taco Bell to Bring Back Mexican Pizza Sept. 15
OK, lovers of Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza — you know who you are — the popular dish is coming back as a permanent menu item on Sept. 15, according to the fast-food chain’s website.
The Mexican chain, owned by Yum! Brands, had brought the food item back in April after a long hiatus, but the demand was too much. The Mexican Pizza disappeared again after just a few weeks. In June, Taco Bell announced it would return, but the belief was that it would be well into the Autumn before that happened.
In fact, in its announcement of the re-return (as that a word?), it noted, “The late summer return is sooner than Taco Bell first anticipated when shortages hit earlier this year, as Taco Bell worked quickly to restock the beloved menu item.”
Taco Bell says the demand for the Mexican Pizza when it returned in April was seven times more than it was before it was discontinued, and the supplies just weren’t there: “While demand and ingredient shortages delayed that permanency, it’ll be here to stay for good when it returns September 15.”
Unfortunately, there is no new information on the status of the suspended project, “Mexican Pizza: the Musical.” (Yes, apparently that’s a real thing.)
