Taco Bell to Temporarily Bring Back the Enchirito After Fan Vote
Taco Bell says it will bring back the long-extinct Enchirito, half enchilada and half burrito, on a temporary basis after the one-time staple won a fan vote.
The Mexican fast-food chain put the Enchirito, a menu original that was offered to diners from 1970 until 2013, up against the more recent menu item, the Double Decker Taco, which debuted in 1995 and left the menu in 2019. Voting was done via the Taco Bell Rewards app.
The Enchirito was described in a news release thusly: “The Enchirito is made up of a soft flour tortilla, loaded with seasoned beef, beans and diced onions all rolled up and smothered with its classic red sauce before being topped with melted shredded cheddar cheese.”
Originally, it was topped with three black olive slices, but those appear to have been left off for the reboot.
"On the heels of the love and passion we saw for Mexican Pizza, we wanted to continue elevating the voices of our most loyal fans by giving them exclusive access to a uniquely digital experience that fosters brand love," said Sean Tresvant, Taco Bell's Chief Brand Officer, in the news release. "Nobody gets Taco Bell more than our community so we're thrilled to empower them with this in-app voting experience that allows them to have a direct impact on our menu."
The Enchirito is expected to return to menus at participating locations “at a later date.”
Now, if we can just get them to bring back the much-missed Chilito, aka the Chili Cheese Burrito.
