The KFC 11 Herbs and Spices Firelog: For When You Need Your House to Smell Like Fried Chicken

Because BRANDING. Courtesy of Yum! Brands

And I thought Arby’s Curly Fries Vodka was a terrible idea. Now we have a fried-chicken-scented fireplace log from KFC.

Ahhh, that Yum! Brands, always innovating. And branding.

Actually, this thing apparently has been around for three years now, and I’m only just hearing about it, which doesn’t make me sad. 2020 was bad enough without a piece of wood basted in 11 herbs and spices to make my house smell like fried chicken. I mean, wouldn’t that just make you hungry? Wait, or is that the play here?

OK, with this promotion – you can get the KFC Firelog for $15.88 at Walmart.com (because, of course it’s Wal-mart) – you get to scan a special QR code on the packaging to enter a contest to win what Yum! is calling the “KFC Firelog Cabin Experience.”

What’s that, you ask? Well, it’s a KFC-themed vacation giveaway that includes a three-day, two-night stay for up to eight people in a 7,000-square-foot, three-story luxury log cabin surrounded by 200 acres of a protected nature reserve in Kentucky. The KFC Firelog Cabin features four bedrooms, multiple open living room spaces, a theater room and built-in bar, kitchen and dining area, outdoor kitchen, pool, and hot tub, all decorated in their fried chicken finest.

But wait. There’s more.

Per the news release, “When guests arrive, they'll follow the path of KFC Bucket lamp posts up the stone steps to cozy rocking chairs draped with a classic Colonel throw blanket for comfort in the chilly morning air. Once inside, the inviting smell of fried chicken from the fireplace will tantalize taste buds. Guests can snuggle up to read by a KFC Bucket light, bask by the indoor fireplace on the Colonel Bearskin rug or relax in the great outdoors by a firepit filled with KFC 11 Herbs & Spices Firelogs.”

And on Saturday night of the stay, KFC's Head Chef, Chris Scott, will prepare a private dinner turning KFC's fried chicken and sides into a gourmet, five-course meal. It will include items like Finger Lickin' Good Charcuterie, The OG Original Recipe Chicken Roulade, and Sweet, Southern & Sticky Toffee Pudding to cap off the evening.

That’s right, Finger Lickin' Good Charcuterie. Chicken charcuterie? OK, I may never eat chicken again.

I don’t mean to make fun. If that’s your sort of thing, grab that log, let the chicken smells flow all Christmas long and cross your fingers you get to stay in that cabin. I’m just hoping next year there’s a Taco Bell Firelog, because I love the smell of that taco meat. You hear me Yum! Brands?
