Fat Lamb to Host ‘Eat Your Veggies’

The Fat Lamb is probably best known for its lamb dishes and smash burger, but Chef Dallas McGarity clearly thinks sometimes it’s good to just eat your veggies. And when it’s for a charitable cause, all the better.

McGarity announced that he will be hosting a new monthly vegetarian dinner series beginning on Dec. 18 at the restaurant. All proceeds from this dinner will go to Dare to Care Food Bank, and the charity will change for each of the series through the Spring.

“Eat your veggies is a dinner series to put some focus on vegetables while allowing us to showcase our creativity and raise money for some amazing causes,” McGarity said in a news release. “There are many opportunities to be creative with vegetables that we are all missing out on, and we’re excited for people to try it.”

The five-course menu includes:

1st: Pan Puri with saffron potatoes, green peas, mint, and a chili mango sauce

2nd: Sesame Chickpea Fritter with creamed spinach, feta, and roasted pepper sauce

3rd: Curry Roasted Cauliflower with tahini and carrot puree, zhug, pickled golden raisins, and toasted almonds

4th: Smoked Paprika and Cumin rubbed sweet potatoes with kale and onions, chili crisp, and lemon zest

5th: Mango Lassi Tarts with whipped cream, lime zest, and mint

Chef McGarity won the title of “Chopped Champion” on Food Network’s CHOPPED in 2019, and is a four-time James Beard House Dinner invitee. He is involved in many charitable endeavors locally including Gilda’s Club, Family Scholar House, Dare to Care, and APRON Inc.

The first dinner is Sunday, Dec. 18, at 6:30pm, and the cost is $85/person with an additional $35/person optional wine pairing. The Fat Lamb is located at 2011 Grinstead Drive. For more information on Eat Your Veggies and to make reservations visit www.fatlamblouisville.com.
