After 15 years as a mainstay on Frankfort Avenue in Clifton, Ramiro’s Cantina will shut its doors for good as of Dec. 30.

Owner Ramiro Gandara announced the closure in a social media post on Tuesday, noting that Ramiro’s will continue on as a business with its food truck and catering operations. In addition, Ramiro’s Express, the fast-casual sister concept, will reopen at a new location in mid-January at 149 Spring St. in Jeffersonville.

“It is with a heavy heart we have decided to close,” the statement read.

Ramiro’s was known for years as a family dining spot that offered margarita Mondays, a variety of approachable Mexican fare that ranged from tacos and burritos to seafood dinners, a variety of appetizers and plenty more. One appetizer dish Ramiro’s was known for was the smoked brisket bites.

“We are truly thankful for our amazing customers and staff who supported Ramiro’s,” the statement read. “Thank you to the community who embraced us so kindly and for the wonderful memories we created here.”
