Seviche’s Anthony Lamas Named Semifinalist in James Beard Awards
The James Beard Foundation announced today its 2022 Restaurant and Chef Awards semifinalists in advance of the returning James Beard Awards. Chef Anthony Lamas of Seviche was named a finalist in the Best Chef: Southeast category.
The Southeast category includes Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.
According to the Seviche website, Lamas has cooked at the James Beard House five times, and he was previously named a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef: Southeast award in 2010, 2011 and 2012. He opened his popular restaurant Seviche in 2005. Seviche has numerous awards over the years, and Esquire once said of the restaurant, “If you have time for one meal in Louisville, make it Seviche.”
The James Beard Awards, considered to be among the nation’s most prestigious honors, recognize exceptional talent in the culinary and food media industries, as well as a demonstrated commitment to racial and gender equity, community, sustainability, and a culture where all can thrive, per a news release.
The James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards were established in 1991 and is one of five separate recognition programs of the Awards.
